Konoha Dossier Name: Hyuuga Hinata Posted Image First Manga Appearance: Chapter 34 First Anime Appearance: Episode 1 Name Meaning: Hyuuga=Towards the sun, Hinata=Sunny place Hidden Village: Leaf Village Rank: Chuunin Age: 15 Squad: Inuzuka Kiba, Aburame Shino, Yuuhi Kurenai Notable Features: Crush on Naruto, Heir to Hyuuga and the Byakugan Notable Quotes: "Naruto-kun!" *blushes* Special Abilities: Byakugan Stats: (Pre-timeskip 10 Point Scale) Ninjutsu: 3 Genjutsu: 2 Taijutsu: 6 Intelligence: 6 Power: 2 Speed: 4 Stamina: 3 Seal Knowledge: 4 (Post-timeskip 10 Point Scale) Ninjutsu: 6 Genjutsu: 5 Taijutsu: 7 Intelligence: 7 Power: 3 Speed: 5 Stamina: 4 Seal Knowledge: 6 History: Hyuuga Hinata is the heir to the main family of the Hyuuga Clan. When she turned three years old her cousin Neji had a cursed seal placed on his forehead. After the seal was placed upon Neji, he grew to resent the main family for that and for what he saw was the unjustified killing of his father by the main family. Neji directed his hatred for the main family against his cousin Hinata. In the third round preliminary matches of the Chuunin Exam, Hinata and Neji were matched against each other. Utilizing the Hyuuga Clan's gentle fist style, Neji and Hinata began to trade blows. Neji's level of skill utilizing the Byakugan bloodline ability outmatched Hinata's and she became injured. Thinking back to how she had seen Naruto refuse to give up, Hinata tried to become a stronger willed person and leave some of her timidness behind. Saying she wouldn't go back on her words and give up, Hinata began to trade blows with Neji again. Though Neji continued to injure Hinata, she refused to give up. This angered Neji to the point where he was going to strike a killing blow against her. Before he could do so, the Jounin masters watching the match jumped in to stop him. Hinata then collapsed due to the internal injuries she was suffering. Medical attendants took Hinata away but from that point on she was a changed person. Before the start of the third test of the Chuunin Exam, Hinata had gone to the Genin survival training area. While there Naruto also showed up much to her surprise. Naruto told her he was experiencing some doubts about his abilities. Hinata took the opportunity to tell Naruto to not doubt himself. She let him know she was inspired by his determination and sees herself as more assertive and self-assured than she has been in the past. Hearing her reassuring words, Naruto felt better about his chances and told Hinata to come see his match where he would beat Neji. Then Naruto told Hinata that he thought Hinata was a dark and timid person, but he said he was wrong. Naruto then told her something that stunned and flattered her, he liked people like her. Blushing, Hinata could only stand in shocked surprise as the boy she liked expressed feelings for liking people of her type. As the years passed, Hinata began to further push her limits and abilities and attained the rank of Chuunin. When Naruto finally returned to the village, she was embarrassed and stunned. Though she had grown in a lot of ways, her bashful crush on Naruto remained. |

In addition to being pre-timeskip the stats are kind of meaningless (if you look at Kakashi's stats they're so high that a Sannin would have to esentially have all 10s to be measurably greater than him, so the scale is unbalanced), they don't represent a good estimate of any characters abilities. Hinata's a character I wish had a greater role in the series. Aside from filler incidences she's been in a grand total of one combat sequence (her incredibly one-sided fight with Neji) and beyond that has held something like 3 minor conversations with Naruto, and that's the extent of her existence as a character. I think Hinata has potential to be an interesting, contributing character, her shyness, her quiet nature, and her personal struggle to measure up to family expectations are all reasonable points of interest. Unfortunately, she's massively overshadowed by Neji, and so long as he exists there's really no legitimate role for Hinata in the series. |

Her voice actress (Mizuki Nana) does an amazing job projecting her personality and feelings, her "motto" at the end of the "Bikkouchu" filler arc (the only filler worth watching so far) was very emotional. Hinata's Seiyuu is very popular and has worked in many great series, and in fact, she is a very famous J-Pop idol! Hinata is the heiress to the Hyuuga Clan, though her little sister seems to be doing a better job as representative of their clan, I see Hinata growing up to be a beautiful and wise leader. Got to agree with Mechalich, she only shines when she is not around Neji or on her own. Plus she can do WAY lot better than Naruto. |

She appears to be weak, but i think it's mostly because she is a very shy girl. The more confident and less doubting of yourself and your skills the stronger you will become. You just have to have motivation. |

It did. I like her shy personality, although she idolizes some immature, hyperactive kid named Naruto. I think the only reason why she's weak is because of her shy personality. If she were to be more open, she could catch up with some people. |

Well the scale is only out of 10. Gai obviously has better Taijutsu skills that Kakashi but his Taijutsu is a 9, while kakashi's is the same. A ninja could have almost all 10s while another could have the same but that really doesn't make a ninja. They are being rated on a level where 10 is the highest since you cant get better than that it would also make Gai significantly weaker than Kakashi if you just look at the stats. But, i still think Kakashi is stronger, but that stats make Gai look a lot weaker. Btw, Hinata isn't that strong...she has potiential to be a great ninja but she just doesn't seem that strong. Compared to Neji, Naruto, or most characters she doesn't seem to be as strong as them or almost...she did get her ass kicked by Neji after all. |

Hinata is the cutest and most adorable anime character I've seen in ages, and I love her relationship with Naruto. Beyond that, she has a lot of inner strength that she doesn't see, and it's fun to watch her as she grows into a stronger, more confident woman. Until then, it's fun seeing that side of her gradually emerge. |

In the fillers, her voice sounds creepy being mean and evil. She's supposed to be a supporting character I think. Her role is for other characters like Neji, Naruto, or anyone on Team Kurenai, to defend her in the toughest situations. I hope Hinata is one of those characters that die so the plot will increase. She is a lovable character though. I wonder if Orochimaru were to put a cursed seal on a Hyuuga and do that dieing jutsu to increase the seal level, would the Byakugan close forever? |

She's not that weak either, comparitively. Yes, she got beat down by Neji, in the most one-dimensional fight in the entire series, where both people had the same exact moves, Neji's were just better. However, based on all the other chuunin prelim battles, at that time Hinata was far from the weakest character. She takes Ino or Sakura hands down, probably could have beaten Chouji, and I'd have given her an even chance versus Shikamaru, Kin Tsuchi, or Tsurugi Misumi. She probably would have had a chance against, loosing closely to, Kiba, or Tenten. All in all not bad, and of all the girls present at that point only Temari was clearly better than Hinata (important note, prior to Tsunade's pseudo-victory over Orochimaru, no female character had defeated a male character in Naruto). |

...Yeah, i guess your right, but compared to the potiential she has, she is in the main family and she has a better oppurtunity to become stronger but she supposedly is weaker then someone five years younger then her....and its not like her sister is a prodigy like Itachi or anything...but she is strong somewhat just didn't stand a chance to Neji :P She has more potiential...doesn't seem to use it though |

Potential is hers - why didn't she use it??? because of her faliures and her father's coldness to her talents - she lost confidence in herself, and THAT is her true weakness. After living a life of inferiority... you can't expect a person like her to be a succesful shinobi like the other genins. She was weak (for a hyuuga)- and that was an undeniable fact. But all is well now... In her fight with Neji... with some huge thanks to Naruto being her inspiration. She had began to "change" herself. (It means having confidence in her own abilities). The next time we saw her in the anime... in the filler bikoucho... we saw the results didn't we? There are people though who consider this insignificant, but it is up to you whether this "loser" will have a bright future, just like the "fox kid loser" did, who is the main character - Naruto. Anyway what does spam mean? was Gaarared talking about me? Im just new here... |

I have to disagree here. Tenten, Hinata loses to almost as badly as Tenten loses to Temari - Hinata is all close range and doesn't have Kaiten to protect her. I doubt she has the speed to close with Tenten without getting skewered. Kiba vs. Hinata is tough to call. If Kiba goes all out and uses the moves he uses on Naruto, he'll win easily - Hianta might get in a hit or two but she's not going to be getting back up after a Gatsuuga (she's not going to be nearly as motivated to fight her own teammate as she is against Neji). However, Kiba's not likely to go all out and if he sticks to simple taijutsu the Gentle Fist might give Hinata enough advanatage to eke out a victory. Misumi, I say he wins against Hinata. He seems fast enough to grab her the way he did Karasu, and at that point the fight is over. I suppose it comes down to how fast you think he is, though. (Hinata stands a much better chance against his teammate Akadou Yoroi, in my opinion.) Kin, there's not anywhere near enough information to say. We know almost nothing about her fighting style outside of filler, as I recall, and even counting filler we don't know enough about how the Byakugan interacts with sound-based genjutsu, or what other abilities Kin might bring into play. Shikamaru, Hinata loses to. Unlike Kin, she doesn't know about his technique, so it's easy enough for Shikamaru to catch her. At that point, the fight is over. Chouji... it probably comes down to who gets motivated first. Ino has a good shot to beat Hinata, I think. All she has to do is figure out a way to use her technique safely, and the fight is over. Hinata's not going to be breaking out of that technique the way Sakura did. Sakura is, by far, Hinata's best match-up, and there's no doubt that Hinata is stronger. Sakura's only offense is taijutsu, and not very good taijutsu, which isn't going to help her win against the Gentle Fist. On the other hand, in the actual fight, Sakura wins easily, for one simple reason - Naruto is going to be cheering, loudly, for Sakura to win. That's just going to be crippling to Hinata at this point, and it's questionable whether she'd even try to fight in that situation. Don't get me wrong - I like Hinata as a character, and Neji was definitely one of the worst match-ups for her, but I don't think she had all that much chance of making it past the preliminaries regardless of who she went up against. |

Not sure how strong she will get, but in the fillers she becomes really strong. Don't know if she will be this strong afterwards in the manga plot. |
