Why with the filler after we just started back with canon material?

1. While they got his abs wrong, I also kinda didn't like Suigetsu's voice; I think I'd prefer if it was more throaty, like Zabuza's. I know he's only 16, but I think a deeper voice would have suited him better. Then again, who knows...

2. OK, I know some of y'all would disagree with me, but I didn't like some of the extra filler for this. The whole fight the army thing was just one big worf effect moment; we really could have just done with that five minute interaction between Suigetsu, Tenzen, and the third henchman with the sword to show what Suigetsu's abilities were. Most of the rest was average.

4. Karin was interesting at the end; they had her voice pegged. Can't wait to see her in action (wink, wink) and hear Jugo as well.

Tune in next week.

Omg suigetsu talks a lot the filler stuff was pathetic while sasuke face stayed the same suigetsu's kept on changing well at least sasuke hasn't lost his hotness when it come to females. The opening scene was pretty much the best i guest that's because it's canon didn't like how they made suigetsu swim in a pond out of nowhere. As for his voice it's o.k i was expecting something more sinister and sasuke didn't smile when he saw and read what was writing on the bridge but he did smirk. At first i thought they changed karin hair until they showed a close up of her instead i thought it would be bright red instead it's burgundy which i like better and her voice was a perfect match.

Finally Time for my review: 7/10
Good episode didn't mind most of the filler scenes and dialougue except the fighting.
-Animation was much better the past two episodes
-Agree that I don't like Suigetsu's voice. It doesn't have to be raspy or anything but it just doesn't fit the character
-Sasuke kept telling Suigetsu to put his clothes on. :) (Maybe I won't call him his other name anymore)
-Not sure how I feel about the blue highlights in Suigetsu's hair....(were those there in the manga?)
-Didn't really mind the filler everyone's complaining about for once.
At least they padded episodes the right way and not the wrong way like Bleach does.
(With bad humor and mediocre filler battle and dialogue)
-Didn't get how they instantly went from the street to the alley with Gato's minion
-I take my statement on the filler back....
Seriously why do big groups attack one at a time in every anime???
-I actually enjoy the new "sinister" music. I don't know what "cowboy" music someone said they brought back.
I must have missed that. The cowboy music is from Shippuden Movie 2 and I didn't hear it in this episode.
-Apparently everyone in the world knows Sasuke killed Oro somehow <_<
-Two things question me though (The second one being a spoiler)
-So did Sasuke give that guy the sword too?
Spoiler: click to toggle

My high-points:
Like how they brought back Gato's goon
Spoiler: click to toggle

This wasn't necessary at all! We got the point when you had all the Konoha girls do this! The animators are obviously Sasuke Fan-boys too. This is one of the reasons I like Hinata. She has a brain.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Lil Wayne says my comment to this pic best in the "A Millie" song... <_<
Spoiler: click to toggle

You don't want to know what happened to Sasuke. ;) Kishi don't tell the kiddies in the databook! (Let's just say he was a happy man for 30 seconds)

Gave it an 8. I enjoyed it pretty much and agree with mostly everyone that it was somewhat filler-esque. What, with the yogart chicks screeming over Sasuke. To bad he's got revenge on his mind, he could have dates lined up to take him out for months. Oh well. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Suigetsu's got some skills.
That thug that bumped into them was a trip after seeing Sasuke's murderous stare.

Sasuke's still a D-bag.

I don't think he wanted dates with any of those girls......Did you see them? :D

I was expecting to really hate the filler, but thank goodness it ended within the episode. Still pointless though.

Can't wait to see Karin next episode.

An excellent episode, indeed. I enjoyed the interaction between Sasuke and Suigetsu, notwithstanding Suigetsu being the verbose one in the pair. The quest for Zabuza's sword added depth on top of the canon material, so I was quite pleased with how the animators handled the episode. The animation was beautiful and I was digging the background music. I have no problem with the voices of the newly introduced characters that Sasuke is recruiting for his squad. I'm not sure how the word spread so quickly that Sasuke killed Orochimaru, but whatever. I rated the episode 9/10.

Why with the filler after we just started back with canon material?

If Shippuuden went with a strictly canon route in every single episode, I wouldn't be watching it. At all.

What's partially made the good parts of the original anime and Shippuuden is the fact there were filler implementations to expand and deepen the canon storyline, many cases of which Kishimoto didn't develop properly enough of or at all. Suigetsu in particular is an example of an interesting character really not given that much insight in the manga. Even though this week may have taken an entire episode to help the viewers understand his personality more, it was damn well worth it.

I almost forgot the screaming Sasuke admirers. That was really refreshing and original. Really, when was the last we've seen that. At least nothing has changed one bit with Sasuke affecting the public females. Probably more reason for us to see this next female character all over him.

Thank You. I usually miss stuff like that too but there was just something about that guy I couldn't forget. Plus I was so happy when Naruto came to save them during that first arc. That was the first time in an anime I truly hated a villian and he didn't have to be super strong or bad-ass or anything of the sort. (Gato)

Well I wouldn't go that far but I mostly agree. At least the filler was implemented into the story well and was somewhat plausible. I also enjoyed the subtle filler parts like actually filling the bridge up with people which wasn't true in the manga and showing flashbacks that are re-animated in Shippuden form. It could have been done worse like some other anime. *cough* Bleach *cough*

Maybe I should have clarified: I don't mind filler, especially when it expands on certain elements (like you said, character development; who can deny that in the anime world Hinata was a lot more developed [stop sniggering] after the 90 or so extra episodes from part one?) but I hate that the animation guys pull an entire side story out of where the sun don't shine just to show how badass a guy is (again, with the worf effect). So maybe to be perfectly clear, I don't mind the filler, I just hate the way they went about it this particular episode.

Spoiler: click to toggle

P.S. - And yeah, you're right: strickly canon material anime would suck.

A real good episode. I didn't relies how much I missed Sasuke in the anime. I like the filler that they add and the interaction between Sasuke and Suigetsu is great. Suigetsu hair was kind of weird, But it grew on me. But the greatest part of the episode was Karin's "limited" appearance. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Two things:
Ton Ton

Didn't get how they instantly went from the street to the alley with Gato's minion
I'm thinking that Suigetsu grab him and swung around, Throwing him into the alley.

If they attack all at once, They would also be attacking each other. It's easier to attack one at a time, So there's no risk of cutting an ally or getting cut themselves.

Some of the semi-filler episodes definitely improved things over the manga most notably the episodes in which we see Konohamaru lock himself up after the third dies and the episode in which Shikamaru mourns the loss of Asuma.

I have never been a fan of Sasuke's team but now, seeing it animated, I kind of like them! This animation team did a good job. I h8 to admit it, but I'm really quite excited for the episodes to come. I remember h8ing this time in the manga, but looking back it really wasn't as bad as I posted on numerous occasions. I actually feel bad now, lol. Oh well, another 10/10 for me.

great episode, but a LOT was cut from the manga on this one.

I think Suigetsu voice fit him perfect.

fillers stuff was ok.

That right! NO Naurto this time. he's on mandatory leave.

9/10 from me.
it was also quite great to see some of saigetsu's true abilities which we never got to see in the manga
