very nice episode. for the first time in a long time it actually felt like I was watching "anime".

Sauske is a layered and complex character with a nice arsenal power, jutsu and weapons ......it really highlights the lack of development Naruto has had by Kishi.

Plus points:

Zouri returning, only to get bullied around.
The entire subplot around retrieving Zabuza's sword.
More upbeat and positive music.

Minus points:

Needed more Karin.

I'm glad to see Shippuuden has finally regained some of the spirit of part 1. No longer a show about people looking down at the ground with saddening violins, though this is mostly due to Pierrot's intervention. Despite all the complaints of "Sasuke Shippuuden", I welcome the change from the more melancholy tone.

I agree with Jashin. There was a "fun factor" in part 1. I know the animation has always been bad, but it seemed to capture the pivitol moments of the action in part 1. This episode, the action was a little soggy, but at least the "special something" is creeping back in. It was there during the immortals arc and during the fight team 7 had with Sasuke. But the "good stuff" has been rather sparse.

I found Suigetsu's voice to be very fitting. To be honest I never really thought how it would sound in the anime but upon hearing it for the first time it just felt right to me. The same could be said for Karin's voice as well. I think the voice actors chosen to do them were the correct choices.

I agree that Suigetsu does talk a lot but that really makes him a good teammate for Sasuke. As we know Sasuke isn't much of a talker so putting someone who is the complete opposite with him makes for an interesting tandem. I personally enjoyed the interaction between these two in this episode. It was especially neat how Sasuke made that wager with Suigetsu just as a way to test him out.

It was pretty cool to see Gato's former henchman Zouri again. Before watching the episode I thought he would now be working for Tenzen but that didn't end up being the case. I really liked it when he mentioned how Tenzen's castle was guarded by thousands of mercenaries and it was an impenetrable because the very next scene proved that to be false.

Overall this was quite an enjoyable episode. Even though there was a lot of filler content in it I thought it helped introduce fans to Suigetsu and his abilities. This little side trip he and Sasuke had to take in order to get Zabuza's sword was very entertaining indeed. Episode gets a 10.

Well I know the part to get Jugo is going to take foooooooorever. Because the suigestu part was short in the manga and it took a whole episode.

The manga to anime ratio of this episode doesn't speak for the rest, just so you know.

Finally, I watched it, after annoying hours of work :|

I fairly enjoyed the episode, even if it did lead into an unruly arc. The animation and artwork seemed different to me, and I'm not sure how I feel about it exactly other than it's quirky, but it was much smoother than other episodes. The filler storyline was better than I thought, as short as it was. It really goes to show how Sasuke's skills compare to the average hand. Suigetu's actions were cool too, seeing as how he was enjoying his break-in. I also like his character, someone not afraid to hold back from the kill, but not madly insane.

And did that one Samurai guy return? Lol, humorous at how pathetic he is.

Suigetsu sounds awfully similar to Takizawa from Eden of the East. Anyway, I quite liked this episode. I quite liked the hunt for Zabuza's sword even if it was filler. The animation was pretty good too. Hopefully we get something of similar quality in the next episode. 9/10.

The filler is a good thing here, because I really dig the one-recruit-per-episode pacing the animators seem to be going for.

When was the last time we heard this "cowboy theme"? I don't recall.

Great episode! I was starting to get bored with all the sappiness going on. I really enjoyed Suigetsu being introduced.

I like the voice, it fits him just right. The manner in how he handles himself and the way he speaks just makes Suigetsu's character very enjoyable to watch.

It was great to see Suigetsu and Sasuke team up. Overall 8/10

@xxK

I agree, this reminds me a lot of Kisame and Itachi.

Whoops. I can't believe I forgot to review. ^_^

Well, no time like the present.

Not much to say.

I liked it. Excellent use of filler.

This allowed Suigetsu to interact with Sasuke in a way never presented in the manga.

The fight scenes were pretty nice. Loved when Suigetsu tossed the guy out the hole in the wall while still gripping Kubikiri.

Can't wait to see the recruit of the next episode. :D

10/10.

Until the next review...

Coming out of the cheesy filler we were just handed the Taka gathering is interesting so far. I was surprised by Suigetsu's voice but by the end of the episode I thought it was actually a better fit than what I had in my head.
