Alright I have a question... can someone have more than one elemental affinity? The only reason why I ask is, because a from what I understand is that to use elemental jutsu like the Fuuton Rasen Shuriken uses more chakra than just a normal Rasengan... more than likely impossible for someone (other than the Naruto who of course as affinity to wind) to use it.

So with that it mind... What brought this question about. During the first bell test when Sasuke first used the (using the translated anime version) Fire style: Phoenix Fireball Jutsu... Kakashi said that he was too young to use fire style jutsu as he was doing the hand signs. Now the Uchiha's are know for their use of fire style, but could it be safe to say that Sasuke has an affinity to fire?

Fast forward to the Chuunin Exam fight against Gaara as Naruto is trying to get Kakashi to stop the match. Kakashi in around about way said that he taught Sasuke the Chidori, because he was just like him. Normally I would have thought about the Sharingan. Which I can see it being that, because even Kakashi could completely master the Chidori with out his one.

However, when Kakashi tests Naruto to find out what kind of elemental affinity he has. The that the test paper reveals the results seemed like it meant that a person could only have one true affinity and the rest they would have to work really hard at to master. So... is Sasuke's affinity with Fire or Lighting or both. Because, really if you think about Kakashi saying that Sasuke was two young to use Fire... but he did wouldn't that mean he would be too young to use lighting as well in part one?

So can a person have two or more elemental affinities.

Sasuke, just like the rest of the Uchiha (presumably), has an affinity for fire. One's affinity to a certian element does not limit them to that element alone. One person, if possible to get around the world entirely, can be skilled in every element there is that isn't beyond a bloodline limit.

Otherwise, this would have made Orochimaru's quest to learn every jutsu possible null and void.

Thanks, and that's what I figure... considering that Kakashi has used just about every kind of element there is, but I had to wonder if it was possible for someone to have two affinities considering that there was no real hard time line between the bell test and the Gaara fight. To where it's hard to tell how much older Sasuke was from the bell test to Gaara fight to where what Kakashi had said about Sasuke being too young or not having enough chakra to use fire style jutsu.

Now speaking of bloodlines and elements... I have a few question about Haku and his bloodline...

Was it ever stated clearly that Haku's bloodline was that he could use Ice style jutsu?

I only ask this, because it seems like I am the only one that seems to think that wasn't Haku's bloodline. The reason why I think that isn't... is because there are just two problems that I have concerning it...

1. Why would Ice style jutsu be a bloodline? I mean think about it if Haku was an rpg character that would be considering godmode there, because it would give him not only ice attack, ice clones, and ice defense to where he would nearly have more jutsu than all the hidden village combined. Not to mention naturally if someone skilled enough to combine elements would combine water and wind... they get ice.

2. Further more if Earth country have nins with earth style, Water & Wave country have nins with water style, Lighting country have nins with thunder/lighting style, Wind country have nins with wind style, and finally Fire country have nins with fire style (even if they are rare now a days). Wouldn't it make since for Snow country to have nins with ice style?

3. Personally I think his bloodline wasn't that he could use ice style, but that he could enter the ice that he created and move so fast between the ice mirrors and now he surived the spikes of ice that killed his father.

Second question - if it was clearly stated (which I think it would be a mistake if it was) then couldn't one of the characters from the first movie have been a part of Haku's clan?

Actually think about it... anyone of the ice users in the first movie could have been related to Haku... because it isn't like we know Haku's clan's name, because I doubt that his name is Haku of the Haku clan. On top of that Haku's father and mother were killed yes, but at the same time I seriously doubt that the rest of Haku's clan was in the house and were killed along with his father. Just because he had a bloodline that the country fear doesn't mean that the rest of the clan was massacred like the Uchiha clan. Hell we don't even know where Haku is from...

I mean we really don't know much about Haku other that he has a bloodline, his mother was killed by his father, he killed father, was found and join Zabuza, and finally killed by Kakashi. Pretty much all that I know for certain, because I won't speak for any one else, but that is... Haku was planned to be cannon fodder for Team Kakashi that became more popular than what Kishi could have expected.

Also that it seems that the only bloodline trait that Kishi shows the meaning of it's importance is the Sharingan. Just look at the bloodlines of the Narutoverse... The Hyuuga's Byakugan... Neji and Hinata seem to have little importance now, Haku is dead, Pein is most likely to die once he fights Naruto, Ranmaru was a filler character, Kimimaro is dead, and Sakon & Ukon more than likely is dead...

Looking at that and how much knowledge we have gained about the Sharingan it's safe to say that all other bloodlines mean little even to Kishi himself, because you have to imagine that he was involved in the first movie and if the Ice style was Haku's bloodline then he would have done something about it.

Nope Ice is Haku's bloodline ability. because a bloodline ability is when you can combine two elements and create a new one, in Haku's case wind and water became ice. That is also why the sharingan can't copy the move.

As for the Ice Mirrors it is just a technique that Haku created with his bloodline ability.

That doesn't make since though... if combining elements is a bloodline than Naruto definitely has at least one blood line seeing as he combined Wind with Water (granted with Yamato) for the Gufuu Suika no Jutsu - Typhoon Water Vortex Technique, but by what you said that would classify it as a bloodline.

Now looking through Vol. 3 pages 138 & 139, because its a two page layout Haku says "Secret Water Art..." on page 138 and finishes on 139 saying "Ice Crystal Magic Mirrors Technique". Which to mean makes me believe that something about the Ice mirrors is the bloodline. Now to Kakashi saying that he can completely copy it, mimmick it, or break it on page 159 is referring to the fact that he can maybe copy/mimmick the mirrors, but not find a way to break them or copy Haku's ability to enter the the mirrors.

However, I will conceed to the point that maybe... maybe Haku's bloodline is that he has an affinity for ice a seconday element in the Narutoverse jutsu and can skip combining water and wind to creat ice, but for someone to have an element to themself is crazy.

The entire reason that Haku's kekkei genkai was discovered was because he was manipulating water without using handsigns and didn't have any prior ninja training, so the Mirrors aren't the only part of his bloodline. Also, Haku created a large amount of ice to defend himself from his father without any ninja training, so ice manipulation as a whole is his kekkei genkai. I'm pretty sure that it was stated over the course of the arc, anyway.

As for the Snow ninja, they aren't canon and therefore don't have to fully abide by the laws of the Narutoverse.

Not all bloodlines revolve around elements.

Lastly, there's a difference between putting two elements together (such as what Naruto did with Yamato) and actually fusing them together (ice and wood elements). The prior is like a mixture, or just a physical blend, while the latter is more like a compound, binding the elements together to give them radically different properties.

firstly (and i may be wrong about this) but i do believe sasuke has an affinity to both lightning and fire. i'm not about to do this myself but if you read that whole part of the manga up until the second fight with hidan and kakauzu. kakashi states that sasuke has an affinity for both. which is why naruto can beat sasukes lightning chidori but not his fire jutsu. now you may ask, well then why doesn't sasuke combine his element affinities to make some flaming chidori or something. kakashi also answers this for us. he says that using one element affinity is one thing. however trying to use two is just impossible for people (exceptions obviously being haku, yamoto). he has yamoto do the example of lifting the giant chunk of earth and then by adding water or something making a water fall remember?

now on to your other question. yeah it was stated it was a bloodline technique. this is just like the wood style being unique to yamoto and the first. by bloodline kishi means in the genes not actual bood. and what did oro do to yamoto? he stuck the firsts genes into along with some other kids. i don't know why but yamoto could handle the genes and got the firsts ability, to some degree. you can't really compare to an rpg unless rpgs had characters who had the ability to expand beyond the limits the game give them. the mirror thing was also part of the bloodline seeing as he could manipulate the ice as well. as for the first movie users..well sadly all of hakus clan were killed. they may not have been in the house but haku and his mom were the last of them. haku screwed up their hiding and got his whole family killed. snow country+plus that movie are not canon sorry. they just don't really fit in the naruverse.

as for the sharingan. yeah kishi is showing it a lot of love right now. mainly because one of the main characters has it. all those other kekke genkai's (minus the byakugan) belong to one time appearances and such.

The movie users are easily explained. They used the environment, they never created ice. Haku creates ice by fusing water and wind element chakra.

Using an element and making one are two different things. Anyone can use the environment in a technique, but to make the element is an affinity.

Kakashi can use Doton, Suiton, and Raiton techniques. However, we only know for a fact that he has Raiton for an affinity. The other two he's always utilized the environment for use.

With all this talk about affinities I have a question. Does anyone know if it is possible for someone like Orochimaru to have more then one elemental affinity, does he leave his old one behind, keep the old one and doesn't gain any, or all the affinities cumulate letting him have more than one affinity?

Whatever affinity Orocimaru has is dependent on what the host body's affinity is. Nothing from his previous bodies are carried over save for their minds in his subconscious. Being that Orochimaru's goal is to know all jutsu possible without a bloodline, and that he had gathered ninja from across the world to serve him. It may be safe to say that he's significatly skilled in all element jutsu and that whatever affinity his current body has means little to nothing as he already had sufficient skill in that element.

Fuuton is the beggining of a wind element in ninjutsu. Like Katon or Suiton (Fire and Water) if you have heard of it. Naruto learned the Fuuton Rasengan meaning wind Rasengan which is a form of the rasengan.

its the manipulation of an element. fuuton rasengan is basically him mixing chakra molding and element mainpulation together. its all very complicated but basically imagine a jutsu like the rasengan only 5 times as big and has blades of wind so tiny that it basically destroys every cell in your body.
