Jounin Posts: 5,148 Group: Admin Member #6,640 Joined: February 12, 2007	Special is out. The long-awaited Uchiha battle begins, what secrets does Itachi have in store for Sasuke...? Review The art/animation was absolutely brilliant in the first half (bordering movie quality) and -- believe it or not -- okay in the second. I'm well aware of the latter half's crappy appearance in the special's preview, but its artwork (only notable exception being the poorly done kunai-hurling scene) was actually solid and on-model most of the time, despite having terribly mediocre animation. As far as the plot goes, 135 was pretty much a recap episode. It's nice to have some buildup leading to the big Uchiha fight, but the majority of the episode's already-shown flashbacks might be irritating to those who've already seen them in the original series. I personally enjoyed it regardless due to the amazing visuals. What little action the first episode did contain was nicely animated and very well directed, but I'm not really liking the fact that such a great animation team was chosen for the special's less-intriguing half. On the other hand, 136 was actually pretty damn good. Even if I'm generally not a fan of the Uchiha clan, it's no secret I like Madara; it was nice to witness his dark background involving his sibling relationship along with some interesting tidbits on Konoha's old history. Even better, the Psycho Itachi scene was incredible. We actually see character from Itachi for once in the form of his "insane" side (his seiyuu also did an awesome job at portraying the voice change), which really provides him with a lot of momentary appeal and intimidation. If only he was like this more often, I dare say he might not be as overrated from my perspective. 8/10.

ahh...Hot tub time... Posts: 555 Group: Site Contributor Member #16,752 Joined: January 27, 2009	Did not like it. 6/10. animation was so sub par, where in parts I didn't even know what was going on in their fight. very bad. Art was not so great either, but better than the animation level. A recap episode. lame. betting 8 out of 10 people already know about the massacre. could've just fill in the blanks with small clips. Omake was funny. sleep-fighting. Nothing more to say than, I waited 2 weeks for this?

The first half was nothing but flashbacks and talking and granted some people who watch might need a refresher on what happened but it did nothing for me. The second half was better. The animation was good but nothing that really blew me away. I'm getting a little tired of the dark scenery and wish they would use something else. Next episode looks to be good and we'll see what happens.

I wasn't overly impressed with the episode but there were some good parts. Madara's brother looks alot like Sasuke IMO (probably for similarity in circumstances I guess) and the bit at the end when Sasuke's eye was popping eye made me cringe a bit (hate things regarding eyes like that) I was a fan when Sasuke had those summoning diagrams on his arms in the manga but it didn't stand out as much in this battle. Also liked it when Itachi's body turned to crow whilst he was pinned by Sasuke's sword. However the episode will be full flowing next week when the battle continues.

Camp Is Cool! Posts: 4,806 Group: Member Member #12,631 Joined: March 14, 2008	I really liked the animation in these two episodes. It was of a very high quality, similar to that of the previous arc. It was a little hard to follow at times in the dark background, but it wasn't anything which would ruin the episodes. I felt that the second half of the special had some unnecessary flashbacks. It would often show flashbacks which were already shown in the first half. Also, the shuriken scene was a little drawn out, but other than that and some unnecessary flashbacks this was a good special. 8/10.

It was a lot of flashbacks, but story is still an important element. Loved the psycho Itachi scene. Itachi's probably the only Uchiha character I care about more than just as a villain. The clashing was fairly exciting, but the really exciting stuff looks like it'll be up next epi.

Although the animation in the 2nd episode kept going from good to bad. Madara's EMS looked like it was drawn with a marker and the scene where Sasuke and Itachi were throwing the shurikens looked like it could make a funny animated gif. The Psycho Itachi scene was absolutely brilliant.

New World Strawhat Posts: 1,372 Group: Member Member #15,857 Joined: November 20, 2008	I found both eps pretty enjoyable the genjutsu tag was what I expected, the animation was pretty good for most of the two eps so I have no complaints... The second ep really showed us how much of a gap there still was between Itachi and Sasuke, I don't know watching this fight animated really showcased Itachi's speed and skill.. This fight has started off pretty good, and I would hope that it continues like this right through to the end... Madara is the badass I always thought he was, this guy loves power to the point he would murder his own clan for it... It's even more clear that he is no victim of circumstance, he's just a cold blooded killer... Plus his brother Izuna looked pretty surprised when he took his eyes, the blood splatter on Sasuke's face was a nice touch... :o 8/10

I thought the fight scene was done pretty well. But I did notice that they changed how Madara and Izuna got their MS. One thing that dawn on me is that shouldn't Sasuke have been able to account for all the Uchihas in he village and know it was an outsider? He must have known how many Uchihas were in the clan and surely none were missing from the final tally done by Konoha.

My only problem was the flashback in the second episode. Both sasuke and itachi sharingan predicting each others moves when the fight starts made me a little dizzy but it is what imaging if to sharingan user were to go at it. I'll give the first 3/5 and the second 2/5 sasuke throwing shuriken at itachi i thought was badly done

I got a kick on the fact that Kishi thought this was a masterpiece and stretched this interaction out for like 5 billion chapters and the animators did it in one special. nice. lol. 8/10
