So for those of us keeping up with Road to Ninja, now we know where the alternate Sakura was during the events of the movie. Tobi's Limited Tsukiyomi somehow resulted in her switching places with the real Naruto and Sakura.

Quite a strange episode. Also I guess I was never aware that the Tsukuyomi was creating a new reality, rather than just the illusion of one.

I didn’t think anything could defeat the Worst Three Legged Race as the best anime filler episode ever, but this manages to actually do it by a nose.

They manage to include nearly all the K11 group being silly, the hints of what the characters will be like in the movie (and the world of the movie overall with everything being a reversal) were cool, and they FINALLY showed Sakura’s parents! :O_O:

She gets the pinkness from her dad and the brightness of it from her mom, it’s perfect!

So kiba represent cats, Shino represents plants that eats bugs, Hinata is wearing sexy revealing clothes, Lee and Neji as rivals are tied together with Neji's eyes being covered, Choji's mouth is blocked and Shikamaru has to act silly. Somewhat opposites or things against the natures of each of them. Kind of liked it.

Also, Sakura has her parents revealed in the anime. I preferred it to happen in the manga first or not at all. Next thing we know, Kakashi will have his mask off for an episode in the anime. Not cool.

10/10

I actually enjoyed this filler a lot, more then I thought I would going into it. I enjoyed the comedy of the konoha 11 getting dressed up and acting like their alt selves on Sakura's orders. Also like how Sakura was comparing Tsunade and Shizune boob sizes, lol. Interesting to see she was from the genjutsu world, that was a nice twist. This episode gets me even more pumped for the movie. 9/10. Now onto the war

Does anyone know if they kept the same voice actress for Sakura's mom from episode 3?

i doubt it, that episode was made like a decade ago.

Hinata haa like wow Naruto is dumb if he ends up choosing Sakura over Hinata, even though Sakura is one of the main characters.

it's hilarious seeing the Rookies reaction to acting like the way sakura remembered them from her world.

Poor Sai, the forgotten character..

i wonder if Sai's opposite is energetic in the movie?

it was good, but the episode was unnecessary.

A pretty good episode, although there's definitely no context whatsoever for those who don't have even an inkling as to what Road to Ninja is about; while this helps avoid spoilers, it also makes it difficult to understand why the animation teams bothered. Even so, it might be worth it to keep this episode available and compare it to the movie later, if only for the sake of amusement.

Still, it was fun seeing everyone forced to act exactly the opposite. For some reason, I especially liked Shino's response to the carnivorous plants. Hinata's dress was very pretty, too, and Neji's indignation was a laugh. I missed Sai, but I guess it would have taken too long to explain to him the idea of helping with an attempt to "cure" amnesia. I'm very disappointed in Tsunade, though. A head injury that resulted in amnesia means the brain was pretty badly hurt, and a secondary strike to the head before the damage healed could result in Second-Impact Syndrome, which is a potentially fatal complication. Tsk tsk.

Anyway, I did appreciate the recap of the war. Since Gaara's situation in particular has yet to be addressed and it obviously won't happen in the next episode, it was a good reminder about how things were going with his group and keeps the audience up-to-date. Not entirely surprised that Naruto and Bee were playing such a dangerous "game" . . . Seems like something they would do.

Also . . .

If the movie is like this episode, then I deff looking forward this movie. I loved every bit of it specially the hinata bit. :) *ahem* Shino cracked me up and this episode was quite something because this timeline is an alternate naruto universe to the timeline of the war and that alternat naruto universe cotains another parallel universe which is created by the Limited Tsukuyomi

I'm confused. Is this really an alternate world, or was it perhaps an illusionary world that Tobi created in order to swap characters with their fake/illusion counterparts? If so, that's a pretty strong genjutsu, considering it pretty much created a fake parallel world. I don't think it always existed.

On to the more confusing matter, where/when does this even take place?

Also, where was that area that Sakura fell from? Was that above the Hokage monument?

i actually liked this episode. so in RtN AU, Sakura's parents are dead and Naruto's are alive... yet if this is AU Sakura, how did she not know Naruto? yes i know he's evil in the movie, but i doubt he was always like that.

"Fake" isn't exactly the word I'd use to describe it. As Shikamaru pointed out, Gentei Tsukiyomi differs from the regular Tsukiyomi in that it's much more than just an extremely potent illusion; it's capable of outright constructing a parallel reality and teleporting its targets (Naruto and Sakura) there. The movie's official Japanese Facebook briefly states the same thing, emphasizing that it isn't merely a dream world.

And yeah, its creation aspect almost puts Izanagi to shame.

It's a direct tie-in to the movie, which was already said in the trailer to be an alternate retelling of the Fourth Shinobi World War arc. Ergo, it doesn't occur anywhere canonically.

I see. It makes sense to be a created reality. What doesn't make sense is, if this was non canon, then why is it an episode and not an OAV? I suppose the same can be said for an episode like the Greatest Five Battles filler in part 1, but at least that kind of fit. This just doesn't seem to be able to if it leads into the movie.

The beginning part of the episode where Sakura appeared in a flash of light made me think of the Terminator series movies. Since I have been following the emerging details about the new movie I got the references this episode made to it. In my opinion it was nice to finally get to see what Sakura's parents look like. Considering she is the main heroine I say it's about time.

Overall this episode was ok. I got a good laugh out of Shino asking if Sakura forgot about him and Kiba's comment on how he'd be the first one she would forget. Shino's reaction to the Venus flytrap plant eating one of his bugs was also funny. The scene where Sakura compared the chest sizes of Tsunade and Shizune combined with their reactions was comical as well. The news broadcast at the end wasn't bad. It helped catch you up with what has gone down thus far in the war.

Episode gets a 7.

Ok ok... I know I'm REALLY late but... MY HEAD IS LEGIT EXPLODING RIGHT NOW!!!!
*huff huff*
Anyway... Just saying but... This episode and road to ninja thing has totally confused me! And my two only explanations are:
1. An intricately developed genjutsu world which was created to show naruto what his whole genjutsu on the moon thing might create/ just a genjuts. Here are my problems with this:
a) If this is a genjutsu how did fake Sakura get out and interact with the real world AND why wasn't it during the war!?!?!?!?
b) If this is just the brief snippet of what the genjutsu that Tobi/Obito/ Madara will display to the whole world with the moon... WHY ISNT IT PEACEFUL!? Sakuras parents are dead due to war... Just doesn't make any sense!! :/

2. This is an Alternate Universe. (I really hate this idea). The reason I don't like this idea is:
a) If this is an actual alternate reality that naruto and Sakura have been placed into; with everything happening around them being real etc etc etc... Then doesn't that make the plot that we have been following in this other real naruto world meaningless???

Anyway I have rambled on a bit too much, aye? But all in all I really do think that this will be a good movie, with comedic relief and a good story line and everything BUT I think what I'm trying to say here is that if it weren't so closely linked and tied to the actual story that is being developed through the manga. I think that this closeness to the actual plot line changes our pet epitome of it in almost every light, and not in a good way.
This episode/ maybe even the movie were not done quite well enough as they either contradict each other or they contradict the very story line of naruto.

BUT having said all that, I haven't watched the movie yet but its gonna be quite a few months of torture until then... :/
