The animation was indeed a mixed bag of sorts, but I noticed only a couple of scenes where that kind of jerkiness was significant - mostly because the majority of the episode's duration involved a lot of character conversing and little action. That said, the fluidity was remarkable at the end of the episode when Naruto and Bee were breaking through the barrier. The artwork was additionally great throughout, barring the occasional off-model shot. In general I quite liked the visuals and also noticed that Naruto's Kyuubi Mode was rendered exceptionally well. Music placement was nicely arranged, too. As much as I whine about Naruto's severe irrationality at times, I've learned to accept at this point that there can't be an arc this massive without the main character's participation. What I really disliked about this week's story relates simply to how boringly predictable it was, because I genuinely don't believe anyone keeping up with this series can honestly say they didn't expect Naruto to go rushing through everyone the moment he discovers why he's actually being confined on the turtle island. I didn't think the episode delivered much on emotional grounds either - unlike last week's special, there's not much character development from either Naruto or Iruka's side of the fence to give the amount of sentimentality between the two much support - and if anything, it's mostly just recapping their "brotherly" bond and it's also something anyone could've predicted at the outset. What I did find enjoyable was the episode's more action-like aspects, like those short skirmishes between Naruto and the Akimichi/Nara/Aburame clan members or Naruto and Bee teaming up to overcome the thirty-six layered barrier. Speaking of, the barrier captain is hilarious and instantly reminds me of a certain character from Fullmetal Alchemist. THIS BARRIER JUTSU HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THE ARMSTRONG LINE FOR GENERATIONS! Decent episode overall. With Naruto and Bee on the loose, and with next week's preview, things are bound to turn interesting. It's just not terribly interesting at the moment... aside from the ending. That last scene was definitely the biggest redeemer. Aesthetic Rating: 4/5 Story Rating: 3/5 Overall Score: 7/10 |

Although animation was mixed, I thought this episode was done well. Bee and Naruto breaking through the barrier was done nicely. Sadly the barrier corps could not keep up with both bee and naruto. Can't wait to see what bee and naruto will face in the upcoming episodes. |

I agree animation was a little mixed this week some good and bad. I just like that Naruto has finally entered the war and that it was Iruka who tried to stop him, even though he knew he wouldn't. Also good to hear that last song while Naruto and Bee were breaking the barrier. We haven't heard that since Minato slammed Tobi with the Rasengan, which was awesome!! Good episode overall, hope to get some more action next week. 9/10 |

Few things! - I may be wrong but it looked like in order to get Naruto to stop, Iruka pulled off Naruto's head band because he knew it would stop and that's the moment to give that note. That was quite shinobi of Iruka. - I love the speed and style of the 9 tail mode and the cool sound it makes. It brought me back to animes from the 90's. - The moment of silence when handing that headband was really cool. I can't remember this anime being that quiet very often it said alot by not saying anything at all. That added to how it felt when I read this in the manga. - Iruka people, teachers are very important and very strong. I love how well the show gives respect for this! - That barrier guy got lucky to have the last camera shot on him. Edited by sounddrops, Aug 16 2012, 09:28 PM.

It was cool getting to see other members from the Aburame, Akimichi and Nara Clans. Too bad they proved incapable of stopping Naruto. The brief return of Sage Mode was another treat. Naruto going back and forth between Sage Mode and the Kyuubi Chakra Mode is definitely the right way to go. There was a lot of emphasis on the strong brotherly relationship shared between Iruka and Naruto. Every once in a while it's nice to get a reminder of their specific bond. The highlight of the episode for me had to be when Naruto and Killer Bee broke through the barrier and escaped from the island. The barrier captain proved some nice comedic relief and makes one think of Alex Louis Armstrong from the Fullmetal Alchemist series. Overall this was a decent episode. I'll give it a 7. |

This is no longer a half-assed band.

I would agree with the animation being -wonky- at times, however there is just something music can do to an atmosphere, that drawn pictures doesn't have. Hence Iruka's speech and letter to Naruto. It was touchy... Though, didn't remember it to be this touchy in the manga. |

I can't help but think that the animators dropped the ball on the barierr thing. The manga did a better job showing naruto and bee going through the 36 layer force field.
