Negatives: This was pretty sexist, some of these women are Chuunin, why are you fighting with pots and pans? I guess the thinking is, if the sumo aren't that tough, no need to bust out any actual ninja skills, but still. Positives: We see Ino's mom finally, unfortunately she's not given a name. LOL moment: "Don't you understand Konohamaru? I want to be like Naruto! Family connections don't matter anymore! It's what you do on the battlefield!" Someone needs to break it to the kid that Naruto's had some help in the family department. |

About what I thought this episode would be. I enjoyed the ending though, cool to see the mom's kick ass. And Konohamaru has improved his rasengan. Overall decent, but I am ready to get back to the story. 8/10 |

Not much to say about this episode, it was what it was. What I found hilarious was then end, Konohamaru acting all tought and showing off his rasengan. I mean come on what beat a dead horse... anyway lets get back to the good stuff. |

I couldn't help but feel a bit insulted for the mothers/women of Hidden Leaf, seeing as how the episode made it seem as though they weren't allowed to fight in the war and that they themselves weren't capable shinobi. Even Koharu and Himura were just chilling, which made it seem as though they had nothing else important to do, not even communicating with those fighting in the war. What's more, why was it daytime? Does this not take place simultaneously with the rest of the episodes during the night? I figured that maybe it took place the following day and that the next episode would pick up during the day, again, but the preview for the next episode took place during the night. For an episode that seemed to be misplaced in the chronological order, at least it was able to fit somewhere, unlike Road to Sakura. Seriously, that episode... why was it not an OVA if it could not take place in the series at all? Oh well, at least this was still entertaining to watch, and we finally got to see Ino's mom. It reminded me somewhat of the older fillers from part 1 and the Konoha History arc that just seemed to not do anything for the series. In this one, though, Kishimoto himself probably would have been like, "No, I don't think that's what was really going on in Hidden Leaf during the war," but, then again, I suppose keeping calm and guarding the village is the best thing to do. It looked like there was no one guarding any perimeter of the village at all, though. Perhaps Kabuto should just attack the villages for some easy victories, since they seem so unprepared. At least that way, if he loses on the battlefield, the villages would be gone. Edited by Diamonddeath, Sep 27 2012, 11:59 PM.

i thought the episode was sexist considering most of those shinobi that were in the episode should be fighting in the war, considering they are very capable chunin and/or jonin. |

Well he's basically the comic relief of the series. Basically like Isidro from Berserk. I mean Konohamaru somewhat serves 2 purposes to the series. First is him and his team basically represent what the the series used to be when everyone was a genin to basically re-creating the feel of back then and secondly it's to show the generational theory. Forgot what it was canonically established(I think Jiraiya said it), but it's to believed that the younger generation is suspposed to surpass the older generation. Such as Konohamaru learning the Rasengan at an age younger than Naruto. Anyways to the episode. I got random opinions to say on it. First is the poor and loopy animation that was shown throughout this episode. Honestly, it was like watching a Boondocks episode. Secondly, what AburameSenpai said is right. This show been called out multiple times for being sexist and this episode just adds fuel to the fire. Also, the Sumo group thing. I mean I understand them being weak(since how can you make a Sumo look strong?), but they're just so unnecessary and a lame excuse for a random antagonist. It's like the Pimp Gang in Saints Row 2.(Since mainly pimps work alone and don't need a gang.) Lastly, this confirms any character in Naruto that isn't a main character can't use jutsu. Aside from my usual pressimism, I enjoyed that they show what the younger genin do in the times of war. For that, I give it a 6/10. Edited by BHM1250, Sep 28 2012, 09:09 PM.

Okay, there's no sugarcoating it. YMMV on any other part of the series (and I do think it is often exaggerated greatly), but this episode was blatantly sexist. For one thing, they most definitely had Jutsu. We've had nameless or even faceless people utilize Ninjutsu (some of which is quite impressive) in battle, so this just comes off as insulting. Secondly, what is the justification of Shinobi (whom were most certainly not portrayed as such) being left behind during the war? Kurenai is one thing since she just gave birth and was carrying for a good amount of part 2....but these Kunoichi have long had their children. It's a shame Kushina and Mikoto (both Jounin) weren't alive for this. I have no doubt they'd have something to show. I liked the other two, but this one came up pretty short. I think giving it even a 6 is being generous. |

It just made me laugh how many absolutely horrible parts there were. The whole plot was in a way a hilarious big epic fail. I mean ebisu or whoever konohamarus techer is and some moms aren't going to defend anyone. Plus how could everyone mistake a circus act for so many things including a biju bear- absolutely ridiculous. Also moms using pots and pans, Konohamaru acting all tough when he really isn't, and over all fails just show how they really need people that can actually fight( by the way did Konohamaru mention something about throwing the rasengan or something when he was talking about the soccer style rasengan)? |

So essentially this episode randomly occurs during the day (was it supposed to be a flashback from earlier in the war or something?), wastes the majority of its plot on false leads, shows us Konoha's current generation of Genin are apparently vision-impaired ninja incapable of discerning goofy circus performances, inserts some awfully ridiculous-looking sumo wrestlers and features the village's ninja mothers playing the rather awkward role of housewives with pots and pans? Now the ending parts with Konohamaru weren't so bad and it was nice to see a brief introduction of Ino's mom, but this was generally so painful to watch that I found it pretty insulting to the average viewer on other levels besides the obvious sexism. As far as aesthetics go the animation was so-so, but the BGM was just mediocre and repetitive. It's seriously time to start switching up some of these soundtrack choices. Aesthetic Rating: 2/5 Story Rating: 1/5 Overall Score: 3/10 |

Sumo wrestlers acting as the invading force was lame. They couldn't think of anything better than that? The mothers of the village fighting the sumo wrestlers with pots and pans was ridiculous. You'd expect better from someone like Yoshino who is an established Chuunin. Although I will say it was good to see Chouji and Sakura's mothers use Taijutsu at one point. Anyway, I am surprised that someone like Yoshino isn't fighting in the war. To my knowledge she only has one child and that child is old enough to take part in the war so it's not like she is forced to stay home to watch a young one. After doing such a nice job with the previous filler episodes they just totally dropped the ball with this one. Seriously I would have rather had them skip doing an episode this week rather than air this. I am not a huge fan of Konohamaru so an episode where he has a lot of air time isn't very enjoyable to me. I can't believe the young generation of Genin couldn't tell the difference between a circus and an attacking enemy force. I don't know why they kept reporting to Konohamaru about these so called dangers. You'd think it would make more sense for them to tell an adult or try to inform one of the village elders. The only positive that I saw come out of this episode was that we finally got to see Ino's mother. On final note when Konohamaru was listing the people who could use Rasengan he forgot to mention Kakashi. Although I suppose Kakashi being able to use Rasengan isn't common knowledge since he is better known for other things. Episode gets a 3. |

This was a terrible episode, I mean it was even terrible for filler. The only good part was when Konohamaru fought Watase, and the end Rasengan. |
