That was pretty much everything thing I'd want out of a filler, good new backstory to flesh out some minor characters, good fights and animation. |

Agreed. Got some interesting insight on Pakura's character, her connection to her student Maki and her raise and fall as a hero. Also quite enjoyed seeing the small skirmish between Monga and Gari. All the more so when Monga actually won. Some background character prevailing as opposed to an established main character. The moves Monga used were quite effective. I also enjoyed Maki using the Cloth for more than just 'sealing' purposes, actually attacking and defending with it. Ruka's suiton seemed a bit too convenient at times, but I'll let it slide. One of my favorite moments was seeing Pakura get her arm blown off, the Alliance shinobi moving in for the capture, only for Gari to remind everyone he's still there, ruining it all. Ending was also surprising. I fully expected Pakura, and maybe even Gari, to get sealed up here, but that didn't happen. Quite the opposite, with the Alliance Shinobi having to run away and the two Edos having their minds crushed as a result. Not entirely sure why Gari had his mind crushed given his attitude, but, eh, whatever. This actually makes me wonder if we'll get follow up to Pakura's story with whatever this feud with Rock was about. 10/10. There are some flaws and a bit too preachy at times, but overall, this is exactly what filler should be doing so any flaws are easily overlookable. Given the previous episode and this one, perhaps the remaining fillers will be a delight as well. *Sees the preview for the next episode* Or perhaps not... |

Another filler winner. I wonder if Kishimoto has input in these war fillers or it's all made up by the producers. I think this is good enough to be in the canon. |

why would the Hidden Sand and Hidden Mist be in combat when the Land of Fire creates a huge distance between them? in order for that work the Hidden Mist would have to trespass the Hidden Leaf's territory to get through the Hidden Sand, which would've made no sense for them. but, hey, it's a filler i guess. I'm guessing Kishi had input in these fillers otherwise i wouldn't be enjoying them as much. |

Another 10/10 from me. Second great filler episode in a row. judging from the preview last week I thought it was going to be flashback heavy, but it was very well balanced. Enjoyed Maki's flashback of Pakura, and Pakura's flashback of her death. Action was very good as well as animation. I liked the combo attack against Pakura and Gari coming to help out as well. Fuguki was also pretty badass taking out many shinobi with his hair needle senbon. Hope this continues until the special. |

Agreed, this was a good episode with one minor flaw. For the most part, I too agree that the back story on Pakura made the confrontation with Mika much more enjoyable. The combo defense and attacks were excellent. The flaw for me was that there was no definite closure for Pakura. She is now 100% zombie and Mika was not able to help her by sealing her spirit. A well balanced episode, i only wish all episodes were this good. |

if you think about it we have similar scenarios in the real world so i dont think its a problem, actually it makes it more realistic in a way. A war between the wind and the water countries would probobly start over shipping lines or taxes. Or it could have started cause of temporal alliances or co-belligerance. Some assassination operation perhaps? We should not forget that Mist was called Bloody Mist under the dictatorship of the manipulated Yondaime Mizukage so who knows what aggression has been unleashed by Tobis making. As you can see there are many reasons why those two could be at war and hate each other for. It has also been hinted at in the manga and is "filler canon" that Water and Earth countries also were at each others throats many times and that would be even more strange considering their geography. |

Pakura is just basically a female Sasuke, except she kept her morality in the end. Speaking of which, Maki needs to find Sasuke and talk him out of his psychoness. Anyways, quality fights as usual, but it has that generic ninja dying syndrome as usual. I mean really, those 2 ninja couldn't dodge their own kunai being ricochet back at them? 8/10

After the way the pain arc went I really didn't expect a filler episode as complete and satisfying as this one. They could do that with each ET and I wouldn't mind waiting several weeks for the story to move on. |

It was nice getting some back story on Pakura. We got a small taste of her student/teacher relationship with Maki. It's a shame that Pakura's own village sacrificed her like that. She literally and figuratively got stabbed in the back. I'll admit that it was neat seeing the kunai and shuriken rain down on her in the sneak attack by the Hidden Mist. The combination attacks and defensive tactics used between Maki, Ruka, Zaji and Omoi were very impressive and a joy to watch. I especially liked seeing Maki use the cloth for more than just sealing purposes. If Gari didn't intervene at the last second Pakura would have been sealed up. At that point he returned the favor for earlier in the episode. This was an excellent filler episode. The minor characters definitely shined. I thought it was good to see Fuguki prove to be such a handful even without his sword. In my opinion Monga's attack that dealt damage to Gari was really cool. There's no doubt that Gari would have been sealed away at that point if Pakura didn't step in. With the way this episode ended I am curious to see if there will be a follow up. Episode gets a 10. |

Well, all I can say is this was a bloody good episode! Monga's attack was incredible and successful. Fuguki was shown to be awesome. I loved the back story on Pakura! It was so sad I wanted to give her a hug. And what everyone has also said, the tactics used by Maki, Ruka, Omoi and Zaji were very nicely done - if Monga was there as well it would have been a 5 - band all villages mash up which would have been awesome! Its really cool to see the Cloth Style used in other ways to sealing. In fact, it appears to be very useful in a variety of support. I was actuay saddened to see that Both Gari and Pakura got taken over properly. Their last little exchange was very bittersweet...and its a shame because that duel would have been awesome and very "Flashy"!! Explosions and Fireballs? Why not eh? Brilliant episode. Thoroughly enjoyed |

pakuras jutsu to was surprising i like how they added that big explosive jutsu to her character that can scorch the area around her is a nice variation to just shooting the fire balls at people and garis counter to kunais was a nice variation as well wouldnt mind seeing more out of other edos too non canon jutsus are welcomed |

This episode actually took me by surprise after watching the previous one. I was expecting to see more focus on the characters in the alliance, but I never imagined to watch actual background exploration of an Edo Tensei zombie. Pakura's backstory was brutal yet compelling, managing to drive forth the insidious nature of village relations back in the day while contrasting it with the progress of the present time to deliver an intense conversation between Maki and her sensei. There's a good showing of Ninjutsu as well, and Pierrot manages to make it clear with the episode's conclusion that the good guys sometimes need to cut their losses and get the hell out of dodge when facing opponents that are too powerful. Aesthetic Rating: 3/5 Story Rating: 5/5 Overall Score: 8/10 |
