I felt that this episode ended too quickly and how there was not anymore time left in the episode to do anything else with it, but now at least we are back with the good stuff next week, so its all good!

This episode was good we got to see some naruto forms that haven't been seen before. However I believe it was stretched out to long and it could have been done in less time like cut out all the extended boring scenery scenes(filler series as a whole). Also based on kabuto it seems that this filler series was just made up because tsunade is shown awake after the pain assault. This happens literally one chapter before kabuto meets tobi. What's more is naruto is talking with her in the same chapter just as she is recovering and there seem to be no time gaps until you literally have this uncut naruto scene on the same page as kabuto meeting tobi. Tsunade also appears fully recovered in the filler and not the chapter. So this being said there must of been a huge gap between a naruto image and kabuto arriving image on the same page. So kabuto changed into an all new person in one page. This really stretches the legitimacy of this filler arc.

It's about time Dokku did something useful. The scene where it appeared as if he and Shiseru were saying their goodbyes to the children made me think of the final words Asuma gave to Team 10 before he died. I wasn't surprised to see Dokku and Shiseru put in a similar situation they were in when they were younger.

Naruto's first transformation after the Kyuubi gave him power was very interesting. I liked the transformation he had near the very end of the episode where we were given a taste of the Kyuubi Mode he obtained while training with Killer Bee.

I thought the way the episode ended continued to fuel the movie atmosphere feeling. The brief shots of Minato were once again pleasantly welcomed. I wasn't too thrilled with how Disonasu went out. For some reason I expected better for one of the villains of the arc. The filler arc overall wasn't bad. In my opinion it had its ups and downs.

Episode gets an 8.

Good ending to it. This could have actually just been made into a short movie instead of breaking it up in so many parts. I wasn't sure what had happend with Naurto on his first transformation. I was a bit disappointed in the way Naruto's rescue of Shiseru was animated. They could have done a better job in showing his speed as the yellow flash 2. Was that a wannabe Kurama transformation? Anyway glad it's over. Back to the war!

I was just happy to see Hyatte again in a couple of the eps. Overall, I really loved the animation....especialy the fighting scenes. As far as the actual story...HEY, it's a filler. Nontheless, very entertaining.

I really enjoy this filler arc. Some say that it was a bit long but I really felt something for the characters by the last episode. Has to be my favorite filler after the kakashi gaiden arc story.

Errr Kakashi Gaiden was not filler. Do you even know what filler means?

I'm gonna go ahead and review the whole Chikara mini-arc as if it's a movie as opposed to each episode individually, because the structure of the entire sidestory feels like it was originally planned to be a film. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was initially going to be the sixth movie until Kishimoto stepped in and created Road to Ninja.

What I liked:

  • The characterization itself is fantastic and the filler characters are likable and heartwarming. Primarily, the relationship between Dokku and Shiseru begins with unrequited romantic feelings and gradually develops into something more as the story progresses - this is frankly much better than Kishimoto's incredibly half-assed approach to any love subplot he tries to go for occasionally. This part is as high in quality as the Wave Country arc without just lazily copying it.

  • Everything about the aesthetics. The artwork is on-model, the animation is fluid, the fight scenes are a bit on the brief side but just as satisfying as Sasuke vs. Killer Bee. It's all distributed particularly well throughout the mini-arc, and the very first battle starts off with a bang when Team 7 goes toe-to-toe against resurrected allies and enemies alike.

  • Returning characters. Hayate's appearance was a treat, Hidan finally makes his return (sort of) and we get to witness Kabuto during his transitioning stages into the snake-like villain he currently is. It's fanservice, but it's fanservice that works.

  • Naruto experiences his transformation into Kyuubi Chakra Mode for the first time, even if it's an incomplete one. All of his Kyuubi forms were rather extraordinary, and Naruto's snake clone is no exception.

  • Minimal OOC moments, if any at all. Kabuto is beginning to develop into an Orochimaru-like character at this point in the timeline, allying himself with anyone he sees fit as long as it benefits him.

What I didn't like:

  • This should go without saying, but Disonasu is a terrible villain. He's exactly like the villains from most films, but he's actually worse because he doesn't really do anything.

  • Nobody ever finds out what the hell Ama no Hoko's purpose for being built was other than it being some kind of power generator. In other words, it's a goofy plot device.

  • Pierrot continues the filler tradition of facing off against an evil giant blob as the final boss.

This was an immensely enjoyable mini-arc overall and I certainly wouldn't mind watching it again. It's kind of a shame that people were itching to get back to canon by the time it aired.

Aesthetic Rating: 5/5
Story Rating: 4/5
Overall Score: 9/10
