Yeah I thought the same thing. I actually thought it was a pretty good chapter. I'm really liking this flashback and I, surprisingly, enjoy the interactions between Madara and Hashirama. It's kind of funny how different Madara and even Tobirama were back then.

We'd learned some nice(or terrible - depends on point of view) backstory of the senju and uchihas before creation of hidden villages. Madara as a child has funny personality and it's totally different than adult Madara. War has changed him very much. I wonder now if the reason he left konoha is still the same as we are told beforehand or we should look underneath the underneath and wait as true will unveil.

Can't kill an idea Posts: 2,920 Group: Member Member #12,768 Joined: April 11, 2008	It's weird this backstory is reflecting that same POVs we had when we created the "world peace" thread a very long time ago (Pain Invasion). I very much enjoy the backstory and the relationship of Madara/Harishama is nothing like the one of Sasuke/Naruto when they were at that age. Madara didn't seem to be affected by the deaths of his 4 other brothers but still seems to be open to the idea of peace. Lastly it makes since that both Madara and Harishama had lots of brothers. Seen the life span was very short back then.

I hope we get to least see flashbacks of Madara's other brothers, since we saw Hashirama's. And if Izuna was dead when Madara was little how did Madara get his eyes and acquire the eternal mangekyo Sharingan later when he was older?

We Have Come To Terms Posts: 70 Group: Member Member #22,162 Joined: February 29, 2012	Really enjoyed this chapter. 10/10 It's really nice to see how both children basically grew up in a time of no explanation, kill first, ask questions later. Also nice to see Hashirama acknowledge that the other side is probably suffering just as much as they were. Also nice to see Madara in another light...not heartless but someone with personality and feelings. It's also nice to see how Hashirama cared for his brothers...all in all really liked this chapter.

It's obvious that we're getting the same recycled story from a different perspective (Senju vs Uchia). We need to cut this flashback short and get to the main point of how the feud between Madara and Hashi started. It was interesting to see that Hashirama had such a strong character as a child to have stood up to his father even after being punched...not slapped...punched in the face. Madara seemed to be somewhat like Naruto as a kid. Very competitive and not liking being outdone by others. Whereas Hashirama was more like collected and peaceful, sort of like Sasuke but on a different level. Can't wait to finish the flashbacks and continue with the story. Ninja Academy Student Posts: 190 Group: Member Member #12,878 Joined: April 17, 2008	Not a bad chapter all things considered - all things being that the history of the entire world and the leaf village need to be continually rewritten to cast Sasuke into a positive and "innocent waif who is free of all guilt" light. Honestly, nothing has been more ridiculous than the whole "I haven't yet decided if I am good or Eeeevil" statement our hero made, which was backed up instantly by "We are good or Eeeevil depending on which way SASSSSSKE decides" statements by !Taka!Hebi!Taka!Hebi! and Orochimaru of all people. Yes of course. The last 3 years never happened. Only in Naruto does every "bad guy" continually have their guilt washed away by the same old mechanism - sob, sob, I was a child of war, so it completely and utterly absolves me of anything and everything I have ever done since then.

I enjoy getting some backstory on Hashirama and Madara, and while I understand some of the complaints about the chapter, they don't bother me at all. I do want to get on with the story, however, so I hope the next chapter hurries us along a bit.

Sad to see Hashirama's bro die at such a young age. The ninja world back then was seriously f-ed up. Now when will this flashback end, I wanna go back to the current war and see the 4 Hokages in action.
