Through most of the episode, I had wondered if it might have worked better to mix things up, have Tayuya face Neji, etc.. But that goes against the "We have to see HOW MUCH THEY'VE CHANGED!" thing that anime likes to push.

It would've been more fun if other members of Konoha 11 fought the Sound NInjas (e.g. Hinata vs. Kidomaru or Ino vs. Tayuya) Of all of the fights, I think I liked Kiba destroying the Roshomon the most

Great twist ending dragging them to "hell" or some other dimension. Still would prefer to see "him" but very enjoyable none the less for a filler. 10/10

One favorite part of mine had to be when Shikamaru wasn't feeling the effects of Tayuya's Demonic Flute since he plugged his ears. Another favorite moment was when Kiba took down the Triple Rashoumon summon. This either speaks volumes on how powerful Kiba's attack strength is or really makes the Rashoumon look weaker than it is. I liked getting to see the continued effects the Zetsu clone infiltration was having on the Ninja Alliance. Speaking of which I got a kick out of Kidoumaru killing both Ninja Alliance members and Zetsu clones alike. In my opinion the twist ending where Shikamaru, Chouji, Neji, Kiba and Akamaru were seemingly dragged down to the underworld was nice. It made this encounter feel different. Overall the episode was good for filler. I'll give it a 7.

Genin Posts: 387 Group: Member Member #15,354 Joined: October 15, 2008	Okay, this episode was ridiculous and i'll to you why. First off, the curse mark was said to kill you from overuse. So, how are they able to use it if they're already dead. Secondly, the fact that the Sound Four are Genin that are on par with Chunnin and Jounin just shows more uselessness in the rank system. Third, suddenly Kiba is on a stronger level than Naruto's Four Tailed mode? When did this happen? Fourth, to add more paleness, they're forcing the Sound 4 to fight the -exact same- people they fought last time, making the matches uninteresting. Well, except the awesome move Kidomaru did right before he got defeated. That's like having a Edo Tensei'd Team Dosu fight Sasuke because they fought him in the forest of death. Last is I don't like that new hell bounding jutsu that the Sound 4 just randomly learned out of nowhere. Honestly, this is the exact same ass-pulling move that Frieza and Cell did on Goku. Plus, if Naruto was able to sense it happening to his friends, then you'll know definitely that he'll stop what he's doing and step in to help them. That's just the type of guy he is. But he's not going to because of obvious canon reasons, which makes this filler a entire ***** mess. 2/10 Edited by BHM1250**, Mar 10 2013, 02:49 AM.

Maybe dying twice made them reach a third level? Either way, it's still an ability they had while alive, so they can do it reanimated. 2) The Sound didn't even have a rank system, at least not formally. The S4 had the position of being Oro's personal bodyguards, though, so there's that. 3) ... I got nothing. 4) Some people like rematches. This showed us just how much stronger everyone had become. And nobody was forced into it; Kiba, Shikamaru, Choji, and Neji happened to be in the right place and the right time. 5a) OK, but maybe they have to be dead in order to perform it? They're essentially dragging Shikamaru and the others back down into the underworld with them. Think of a reverse Edo Tensei- you have to be alive to bring the dead back to life, so you have to be dead to bring the living to Hell without killing them. 5b) As for Naruto, Shikamaru said in the preview that he had a plan for him; I don't think Shikamaru will be communicating across dimensions, even Inoichi can't do that, but this seems to mean Naruto will step in. PS) It's filler. It's not going to be rid of plot holes. Even the manga has a few, such as how Sasuke escaped Deidara's self-destruction.

We're basically stuck going nowhere for a few weeks until the studio catches up animating the canon manga.

I think the war arc has been very good on that kind of front (expansion on characters and battlefronts in anime-original material) and...let's be honest. It's an arc that desperately needed it, given how cookie cutter the source material was. That said, though, this one was kinda weird. I am glad to see the Sound 4 again, but still....

But the Sound Four weren't necessarily Genin when they were alive, and Tayuya explains why to Shikamaru: Kabuto enhanced their abilities, meaning they're virtually on par with either higher-level Chuunin or lower-level Jounin at this point (a.k.a. "above fodder level"). This episode had some incredible art and animation, but I'm honestly a bit underwhelmed by the retread of the same fights we saw in Part 1. The flashback mirroring was sort of cool but we've already seen it all at this point, not to mention the thematic material feels sort of forced. Seeing Shikamaru, Kiba, Neji and Chouji show off their skills in high quality animation was undoubtedly entertaining though. Aesthetic Rating: 5/5 Story Rating: 2/5 Overall Score: 7/10
